What I need to know
- What type of tower do you have: lattice tower, tubular tower (mast)?
- What is the distance between the ground anchor point and the base of the tower? (We recommend that distance to be equal to the height of your mounting point on the tower, but no less than 2/3 of it. For more info you can check our web site in the Tips & Advice section.)
- What will be on top of the tower, such as antennas or other devices? You need to know (or estimate) the wind load of all parts (in sq. meters or sq. feet).
- What is the maximum wind speed you want your guying rated for?

Preparation
- Calculate the maximal forces in guy ropes using Calculator Působící síly. When the calculation is complete, the appropriate ropes will be displayed. Consider ropes with Safecty Factor 3 and higher.
- You can also ask Mastrant for help.
- Consider whether elongation of the rope at the maximum calculated force is safe for the mast. During maximum load, the mast deflects from its rest position due to the extension of the rope. It must not be larger than the construction (flexibility) of the mast allows. Lattice masts are significantly less flexible than tubular masts. You can calculate the rope elongation as follows: calculated maximal force in the rope / SWL of the rope * relative elongation of the rope * rope length. If you need to decrease the absolute elongation, just pick rope with higher SWL or/and with lower relative elongation (lower stretch).
- Choose the rope and calculate length you need using Délky a ceny lan - rovnoměrné rozmístění kotev or Délky a ceny lan - uživatelské rozmístění kotev.
- Consider what other parts you need.
